Botswana Khwai River and Moremi
We explore Botswana and visit the Khwai Rivier Area and Moremi Reserve in the Okavango Delta.
The Game Reserves are a lush animal habitat with hippos and crocodiles on waterways like the Xakanaxa Lagoon. On land, wildlife includes lions, leopards and rhinos.
It is not uncommon to have Wild dogs, Lions, Leopard, Hyena and Elephant roaming through the unfenced campsites.
Important to know:
This is an authentic bush camp experience, although there are ablutions at every camp. This truly 4x4 driving in deep sand and water maybe encountered. The tour is an absolute nature escape or wildlife adventure and is suitable for any bush-loving adventurer.
Additional fuel is needed for about 500km.
Passenger Pick up at Maun Airport in Botswana, and Self Drive meet us at Audi camp,
the day before we leave for Moremi.

We leave after breakfast (included) and head north via Sankuyo Village and Mababe Village into the Khwai River Community Reserve and our unfenced Camp on the Kwhai River.

Relaxing day at the camp overlooking the Khwai River and hippo pools with game drives along the river. Here Hippo’s transformed into elephants bathing right before your eyes and bird watching is very rewarding. Walking to the ablutions is an adventure on its own! Look out for hippo and Elephants.

Leave Khwai Area and drive via North Gate of Moremi Reserve to Xakanaxa into the Moremi Game Reserve where we camp for two nights in Xakanaxa unfenced Camp within the Okavango Delta.
With Buffalo, Hippo and Elephant in Camp sites, and we sometimes have to ‘ask’ them very nicely if we can use their camp!

Relaxing day at the camp overlooking the Khwai River and Hippo Pools. Optional Game Watching Boat Trips or game drives along the river to Wild Dog Plain and water holes like Sitshi Pool.

Crossing the famous Third Bridge from Xakanaxa Camp to Third Bridge Camp which will be 15km, but will take us 2 -3 hours or more depending on road conditions and game sightings.
Herds of Elephants with little ones are famous for blocking the jeep tracks and we will have to wait for them to move away before we continue.

We leave Third Bridge Camp via deep sandy tracks for South Gate Camp. Rewarding Game and bird watching along the way with regular stops to stretch legs.

ICE Bucket is ready before Wine O’Clock for sundowners.
