Day 1: Departure

Traveling Day

Travel from Cape Town International airport at 10:00 via Somerset West and Bredasdorp to L’Aghulus. Enjoy the Overberg landscapes with mountain scenery all around you.
Visit the Southernmost point of Africa, before we book into our accommodation for the evening.
Overnight: Sea View Chalets (DB&B)

Day 2

Walking day 1

16km.  Start walking from the accommodation along the coastal footpath through the Agulhas National Park. Passing the wreck of the Meisho Maru, a Japanese fishing vessel and approximately 2km further from the wreck, a boardwalk turns left towards the Rasperpunt. Look for stone walls in the shallow gullies, which served as Stone Age fish traps for the local inhabitants. Along an open beach, before we reach Brandfontein farmstead, an old farm on the shore.

Day 3

Walking day 2

15km.  From a family cemetery along the Agulhas National Park’s fynbos trail. The route skirts the boundary wall of another historic old farmstead, Aasfontein, declared a National Monument and dating back to the 1800’s.

A long jeep track takes us back to the beach and a small wetland seeps its fresh stream into the ocean. Walk round a long bend of sand until we reach the mouth of the Ratel River. After a lunch break the route continues along a vast stretch of beach, to end the day’s walk at Die Dam holiday resort, near Pearly Beach.  Transfer to accommodation

Day 4

Walking day 3

18km.  We start hiking after breakfast, at the famous Marietjies Pub in Baardskeerders Bos, along the beach and following the coastline we reach Uilenkraalsmond and Franskraal. Follow beach and footpaths along one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in the world. Beautiful clear rock pools to experience ocean life. 

End your day with an interesting visit to the Strandveld Museum and Penguin Sanctuary.

Day5

Walking Day 4

15 km.  After breakfast, transfer via a visit to Danger Point Light House to start hiking at Gansbaai Harbor to De Kelders with excellent whale watching opportunities. 

You will find one of the most unique and best land-based whale watching spots in the world. From De Kelders walk along Die Plaat, a white sandy beach, with rocky limestone outcrops and often with southern right whales offshore.

Day 6

Walking Day 5 and traveling to Airport

12km.  Walk from Piet se Bos along the coast to Voëlklip and via the Old Harbor in Hermanus to the New Harbor, all along Cliff paths and white beaches. Hermanus offers the best land-based whale watching in the world, and is yours to explore.

Transfer, after lunch (own account) and a wine and gin tasting to CPT Airport, arriving at 16:30
