The Game Reserves are a lush animal habitat with hippos and crocodiles on waterways like the Xakanaxa Lagoon. On land, wildlife includes lions, leopards and rhinos. 

It is not uncommon to have Wild dogs, Lions, leopards, hyenas, and Elephants roaming through the unfenced campsites.

Important to know:

This is an authentic bush camp experience, although there are ablutions at every camp. This truly 4×4 driving in deep sand and water may be encountered. The tour is an absolute nature escape or wildlife adventure and is suitable for any bush-loving adventurer. 

Additional fuel is needed for about 500km

Day 1: Departure

We meet at Audi Safari Camp near Maun around 16:00. Pick Up at Maun Airport for Passengers with Eco Ventures or you can choose to drive with us from Cape Town. 

This is our last place to stock-up before heading into the wilderness, making sure you have what you need!

Day 2

Maun to Khwai River – Mbudi Camp
160km – 6 hours

We leave after breakfast (included) and head north via Sankuyo Village and Mababe Village into the Khwai River Community Reserve and our unfenced Camp on the Kwhai River.

Day 3

A relaxing day at the camp overlooking the Khwai River and hippo pools or optional game drives along the river. Here hippos transformed into elephants bathing right before your eyes and bird watching is very rewarding. Walking to the ablutions is an adventure on its own! Look out for hippo and Elephants.

Day 4

A relaxing day at the camp overlooking the Khwai River and Hippo pools. Game drives along the river with beautiful and exciting scenes of animal interactions.

Day5

Mbudi Camp to Xakanaxa Camp in Moremi Game Reserve
120KM – 5 HOURS

Leave Khwai Area and drive via North Gate of Moremi Reserve to Xakanaxa into the Moremi Game Reserve where we camp for two nights in Xakanaxa unfenced Camp within the Okavango Delta.
With Buffalo and Elephant in Campsites we sometimes have to ‘ask’ them very nicely if we can use their camp!

Day 6

A relaxing day at the camp overlooking the Khwai River and Hippo Pools. Optional Game Watching Boat Trips or game drives along the river to Wild Dog Plain and water holes like Sitshi Pool.

Day 7

Xakanxa to Third Bridge
15km – 2 hours or 95km – 5 hours(should Third Bridge be closed)

If the famous Third Bridge is repaired and safe to cross we will take the short cut from Xakanaxa Camp to Third Bridge Camp which will be 15km, but will take us 2 hours or more depending on road conditions and game sightings.
Herds of Elephants with little ones are famous for blocking the jeep tracks and we will have to wait for them to move away before we continue.
If the third bridge is still closed, as at present, we will drive via South Gate to Third Bridge Camp Site.

Day 8

Game drives to Mboma Island and Pools. Relaxing afternoon in unfenced camp with Elephants, Zebra, and Giraffes visiting.

Day 9

Third Bridge to South Gate
66km – 4 hours

We leave Third Bridge Camp via deep sandy tracks for South Gate Camp. Rewarding Game and bird-watching along the way with regular stops to stretch legs.

Day 10

Early morning Game drive to explore the Black pools, Mogogelo Hippo Pool, with a picnic brunch at Mokutshumo Picnic site. Relaxing afternoon in camp with animals visiting.

Day 11

Pack up camp and leave after breakfast for our drive from South Gate to Maun and overnight 

at Audi Camp.

Day 12

Early drop off at Maun Airport and your journey home starts

ACCOMMODATION – Combination of TENTS AND CHALETS/LODGE

We provide camping gear:  Dome tents 3m x3m x 1.82m high- go together with a light, a stretcher, mattress and bedside table.
Upgrade to chalets, with no camping is available

MEALS – Our fully equipped BUSH kitchen (including crockery, cutlery and coffee mugs) will treat you with a hearty breakfast that varies from continental to bacon/boerewors and eggs.
Dinner is always around a camp fire – South African Braai/Potjie experiences and homecooked meals like bobotie. Always accompanied by fresh salad and vegetables.

COFFEE Station – tea and coffee are yours to enjoy in camp – with early morning homemade rusks

ICE Bucket is ready before Wine O’Clock for sundowners.

  • Own 4×4 Vehicle or 2×4 with good ground clearance and off-road tyres.
